Ondřej Novák and Aleš Pěnčík from the LRR team are participating in the 2nd General Assembly of the BOLERO project, funded by the EU Horizon program, which took place at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research in Gatersleben.

As part of the visit to IPK Gatersleben, there was a presentation of the unique PhenoSphere phenotyping facility, which allows the simulation of field conditions in a controlled environment.

The BOLERO project focuses on improving the resilience of coffee and cocoa root systems in low-input agricultural systems. It utilizes modern tools for phenotyping, microbiome analysis, and metabolic modeling to develop predictive models for selecting suitable plants.

CThe goal is to design rapid and accessible breeding strategies tested under real-world conditions, for example in Vietnam, to enhance agronomic performance and profitability.
