Exchange students
Please note that the information serves as a general guide for exchange students. Each exchange programme might have slightly different eligibility requirements, application processes, and other particularities so it is important to follow instructions specific to the exchange programme.
Study programs allow you to take courses at Palacký University Olomouc, earn credits, and immerse yourself in a new academic environment. A prerequisite for your application is the bilateral agreement between your home university and Palacký University concerning the subject you are studying. All students must create a Learning Agreement, either digitally (for EU institutions) or on paper (for non-EU institutions), which will include the list of courses they plan to attend during their stay.
Under the umbrella of Erasmus+ you can apply for traditional EU Erasmus exchange (KA131), the International Credit Mobility (KA171), and Aurora Programme.
Students arriving for a study exchange through programmes mentioned above are nominated and submit their application in the Erasmus+ application:
- Erasmus+ semester(s) mobility (Europe)
- Erasmus+ short-term blended intensive program BIP
- Erasmus+ short-term doctoral mobility
- Erasmus+ short-term blended mobility
- Erasmus+ International Credit mobility (non-Europe)
- Erasmus+ International Credit mobility short-term doctoral mobility
- Erasmus+ International Credit mobility short-term blended mobility
- Cooperation Agreements
Students who come for the ERASMUS+ programme or other short term programmes choose courses from the section Short-term Courses (link below). Most departments at the Faculty of Science offer courses in the English language. These courses are not exclusively intended for foreign students only, the exchange students will study alongside Czech students. Exchange students must enroll a minimum of 15 ECTS (20 ECTS for Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility students) out of the usual maximum of 30 ECTS. In general, students are required to take the largest portion of courses (at least 60%) from the UP faculty/department responsible for the Bilateral Agreement under which the student has been nominated or from the department directly related to the student´s field of study. The remaining minimum credits can be taken upon approval from other UP faculty/departments. Students must be enrolled in full-time study.
More information is also available from the Erasmus/Mobility office at your home institution.
Traineeships offer hands-on work experience, helping you gain practical skills while exploring a different professional culture. This mobility activity stimulates and strongly promotes the education and training of students through traineeships abroad. It provides students with an opportunity to apply their current theoretical knowledge and skills related to their field of study in a specific work environment, expand these with new expert knowledge and capacities or strengthen key competencies such as efficient communication, including communication in foreign languages, intercultural competencies, team work, organizational skills, problem solution, information literacy, creativity, etc. Traineeships significantly enhance the qualification profile of students and recent graduates, boost their professional and personal development, and increase their employability.
The Traineeship does not require a bilateral agreement but must be agreed upon and confirmed in the form of a Letter of Admission (LoA) or Learning Agreement for Traineeships (LA). The traineeship must be closely related to the field of study, and following its completion must be fully recognized by the relevant department/centre. (Award of the agreed number of ECTS credits and/or a diploma supplement.).
