From 4 to 9 October 2026, members of the Laboratory of Growth Regulators attended Auxin 2026 in the Algarve region of Portugal. The conference brought together leading researchers from around the world to share the latest advances in auxin biology and discuss new directions in plant hormone research.
The head of our laboratory, Ondřej Novák, delivered an invited talk entitled “New insights into auxin metabolism, inactivation and metabolic diversification”. Our research was further showcased through eight poster presentations covering various aspects of auxin biology:
- Anita Ament: OXI1 kinase functions within the CANAR pathway
- Kateřina Čermanová: Simultaneous profiling of auxins and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid in Arabidopsis
- Pavel Hladík: Decoding auxins at cellular resolution: Mapping metabolite dynamics in the root tip
- Dominika Kaczorová: Visualizing auxins in plant tissues: Advances in spatial mass spectrometry imaging
- Anna Kuchařová: An enhancer-like lncRNA module controls PIN1-dependent auxin canalization in Arabidopsis
- Jakub Lemberk: Mapping cell-type specific phytohormone distribution at the (sub)cellular level
- Aleš Pěnčík: Comparative metabolite profiling reveals the complexity of IAA and PAA metabolism across plant species
- Jovanka Vladejić: Uncovering an evolutionarily ancient pathway for auxin catabolism in land plants

In addition to their posters, Aleš Pěnčík, Jovanka Vladejić and Anita Ament presented their research in flash talks. We are particularly pleased that Anita Ament received the Best Poster Award for her contribution!

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to share our latest findings with the international auxin research community, exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations. Inspiring talks and lively discussions offered fresh perspectives on auxin biosynthesis, metabolism, transport and signalling, while also highlighting exciting directions for future research. We returned to Olomouc with new insights, valuable connections and plenty of inspiration for our ongoing projects.
