Doctoral study in Experimental Biology is directed to acquiring the knowledge and practical skills of disciplines such as experimental biology, biomedicine and their applications, biological and medicinal chemistry, phytochemistry, bioanalytics and genetic manipulation at the molecular level in plants and animals. PhD students are expected to learn submicroscopic techniques, immunochemical and immunobiological procedures, modern genomic, proteomic, hormonomic and metabolomic procedures. Particular attention will be paid paid to biomedicine in the study of physiological and molecular-biological principles of human diseases including pharmacological interventions. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the principles and mechanisms of the disease and the related development of drugs directed to the molecular targets in the pathological cell.
Requirements for admission:
The applicant must be a graduate of a master’s degree course in a medical, biological, chemical or biochemical science and should have adequate laboratory practice.
An applicant from another country must prove that his/her education corresponds to the requirements of a master’s degree at Czech universities, that he/she is able to communicate with the supervisor in English or Czech language and has adequate financial means (scholarship).
