This year\u2019s event was held under the theme <strong>\u201cMass Spectrometry: From Experimental Design to Data Interpretation.\u201d<\/strong> The program covered a wide range of topics, from experimental planning and biological sample preparation to LC-MS analysis, metabolomics, proteomics, and other omics approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Laboratory of Growth Regulator<\/strong>s was well represented at this year\u2019s event. The school was attended by Ond\u0159ej Nov\u00e1k, David Friedeck\u00fd, Ivan Pet\u0159\u00edk, Jaroslava Friedeck\u00e1, Ren\u00e9 Lenobel, Ursula R\u00e1cov\u00e1, as well as our PhD students Daniela \u0160kyvarov\u00e1 and Filip Roderik Palej.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/lgr.upol.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_20260923_102950-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8081\" style=\"width:557px;height:auto\" srcset=\"http:\/\/lgr.upol.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_20260923_102950-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/lgr.upol.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_20260923_102950-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/lgr.upol.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_20260923_102950-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/lgr.upol.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_20260923_102950-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/lgr.upol.cz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IMG_20260923_102950.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ond\u0159ej Nov\u00e1<\/strong>k delivered a talk \u201cFinding a Needle in a Haystack Using Mass Spectrometry\u201d in the opening invited lecture session. <strong>David Friedeck\u00fd<\/strong>, in his lecture \u201cHow Many Samples Are Enough? From Effect Size and Variability to a Well-Designed Study,\u201d focused on proper experimental design, while <strong>Ivan Pet\u0159\u00edk<\/strong> presented \u201cBiological Sample Preparation for LC-MS: A Practical Guide to Protocol Development Using Design of Experiments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continuing with the topic of omics analyses, <strong>Jaroslava Friedeck\u00e1 <\/strong>gave a lecture entitled \u201cIntegrated Analysis of Metabolomics, Proteomics, and Lipidomics Data.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research findings were also presented during the poster session. <strong>Ren\u00e9 Lenobel<\/strong>, Jaroslava Friedeck\u00e1, Nat\u00e1lie Zem\u00e1nkov\u00e1, Hana Svobodov\u00e1, David Friedeck\u00fd, and Ond\u0159ej Nov\u00e1k presented a poster entitled \u201c<strong>Comparison of Human Serum Processing Methods for Untargeted LC\u2013MS Proteomics and Peptidomics.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The School also included specialized training courses, which began on September 20. As part of the Back2Science program, <strong>Ursula R\u00e1cov\u00e1<\/strong> attended the course \u201cPractical Interpretation of EI Mass Spectra.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s School of Mass Spectrometry provided our laboratory not only with an opportunity to present its research findings but also with a valuable platform for sharing experiences, gaining new knowledge, and fostering connections across generations of scientists \u2013 from experienced researchers to PhD students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From September 21\u201325, 2026, the 27th School of Mass Spectrometry took place at the Wellness Hotel Frymburk on the shores of Lake Lipno.
