Research focus
Within our proteomics group, we focus on the development, optimization, and validation of a wide range of proteomic methods for targeted and untargeted qualitative and quantitative analysis of peptides and proteins in complex biological matrices. We routinely provide identification and quantification of peptides and proteins in samples derived from various plant materials, collaborating extensively with other research groups in the fields of botany, plant physiology, and biochemistry.
Our research includes the development and application of affinity chromatography methods aimed at immobilizing low-molecular-weight analytes, particularly plant hormones. These prepared affinity carriers are used for the enrichment, identification, and characterization of potentially interacting proteins through advanced chromatographic and mass spectrometric approaches.
Additionally, we conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of proteomes and subproteomes at the organismal level, as well as within specific cell groups and sorted organelles (e.g., chloroplasts, mitochondria). Analyses are performed using state-of-the-art instrumentation based on capillary liquid chromatography coupled with a tandem mass spectrometer equipped with ion mobility (Tims TOF Pro2).
The data obtained is evaluated using advanced bioinformatics tools for comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analysis. We utilize software such as MaxQuant for data processing, Perseus for analysis and visualization, R software, and Simca. For data interpretation, we employ a wide range of available tools and databases, including Uniprot, STRING, DAVID, and others.
